Gateway Academy’s C2 Volleyball International Team is an elite international college-prep volleyball training team that plays in USAV & JVA volleyball tournaments. The program, which is open to U15-U18 international and domestic girls volleyball players, is comprised of international players who attend Gateway Prep Academy as well as domestic athletes who play at the club & high school level and will compete in the U18's Division.

Training Schedule

Our C2 International training program takes place over the course of 9 months and is comprised of 2 main seasons: College Prep Training Season (September-October) & the Elite College Prep Training Season (November-June). The College Prep Training Program is open to Gateway Sports Academy athletes only, and the Elite College Prep Training Program is open to all club-level athletes. ALL members of the Gateway Academy C2 International Team will participate in a minimum of 2 2hr practices per week, compete in 9 tournaments in the U18's Division, receive strength and agility training, will complete a minimum of 26hours of volleyball/character development related community service, participate in college campus visits, and will receive assistance with college recruiting (highlight videos, player profiles, contacting coaches, organizing campus visits). 




The Elite College Prep season is where the majority of high-level competitions will take place, with athletes traveling throughout the Midwest & beyond to compete in JVA and USAV club volleyball tournaments. Gateway Prep Academy players will train 5 days/week with a minimum of 3 days of team volleyball training and 2 days of strength and agility training. Gateway athletes will also compete in a minimum of 7 volleyball tournaments,  take part in college campus visits, complete a minimum of 26 volunteer hours, and will receive college recruiting assistance as well as character development training. Non-Gateway Prep Academy players will train a minimum of 2 days per week with the international Gateway Prep players, will compete in a minimum of 7 volleyball tournaments, take part in college campus visits, complete 26  volunteer hours, and will receive college recruiting assistance and character development training.




The College Prep Training season includes 5 days of training per week with a minimum of 3 days of volleyball training, and 2 days of strength and agility workouts. The volleyball training will focus primarily on individual skill development and will include inter-squad scrimmages as well as scrimmages against local college teams. Additionally, athletes will receive college recruiting assistance, character development training, and will visit local college campuses.

Monday & Tuesday 8-10PM at Center STL (6727 Langley Ave Affton, MO 63123)

Cost includes: 

Practices: Minimum of 2, 2 hour practices per week with the option of up to 5 training sessions per week

Tournament fees: 7-9 tournaments

Uniforms: 3-4 practice shirts, 2-3 uniforms, 3-4 shorts, 1 sweatshirt, 1 backpack, 1 pair of kneepads

Travel expenses: Hotel and transportation costs for players. Flights for out of town tournaments will not be covered.

2016-2017 Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Caitlyn Vann

Our coaching staff, led under the direction of C2 Founder, Caitlyn Vann, brings a wide array of volleyball experience and knowledge at the Division I level. Caitlyn Vann begins her first season on the Gateway Sports Academy staff in the 2016-2017 season. Vann coached at the Division I level at DePaul University and the University of California Berkeley. In 2014 Vann founded C2 Volleyball, a volleyball organization that focuses on skill and character development for youth athletes throughout the nation. Vann is also the director of DIG it! Volleyball Inc., a nonprofit female empowerment program established to provide free after-school volleyball training for low-income girls.

Vann joined the DePaul coaching staff in 2012 where she specialized in libero training, recruiting, and camp coordination. At DePaul she was part of the coaching staff that led the the team to the best single-season record in program history. At the University of California (2011-2012), Vann worked with the liberos and with video breakdown.

Prior to beginning her Division I coaching career, Vann played professionally overseas in Split, Croatia (2011). The native of Muncie, IN, received a full-ride scholarship at the University of Missouri where she played the libero position. While at Mizzou, she was the starting libero on the team that went to the NCAA Sweet 16 (2010). Additionally, she was a 9-time BIG 12 Defensive player of the Week, led the BIG 12 in aces (2010), led the BIG 12 in digs & digs/set (2010), was tabbed CVU National Player of the Week Runner Up (2010), and was named to the AVCA All-Central Regional honorable mention team. At the high school level, Vann played as an outside hitter where she was an AVCA All-American, 4-time State Champion, and 1-time National Champion. She was also a member of the USA Youth National A2 Team and Junior National Training Team (2005-2007).

Assistant Coach: Darius Burtin

Darius Burtin will serve as an assistant coach for the C2 International Team. Darius, who has over 4 years of coaching experience, will oversee the strength and agility training, work with the attackers and setters, and assistant in the college recruiting guidance provided to our players.
